According to the Bible, God is a good Creator. Not only is He the one who has constructed the very fabric of our DNA but He has done so with love. So far, we have seen that there are many different theories that describe creation. However, in today’s study we want to look and see the role of science as well as our faith.

1) What is science and what does it do?

2) Is science good?

3) What does God’s Word tell us about the creation of the world?

Through all of the different reasons that proclaim God’s Word to be true, the most important one we see is that God’s Word is true, not through science, but through the love that God has for us.

Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

-1 Corinthians 13:8-13

4) In this passage, what is the greatest attribute to possess?

5) List out what things are to “pass away.”

6) Why does faith, hope, and love never cease?

This world and the beauty of it will end. The grass withers and dies. The tiger will one day pass away. The star cannot stay forever, it as well will extinguish. No matter how lofty the creation of the universe might be, the love that God shows us is even loftier and more eternal.

Read the following passage.

“to him who alone does great wonders,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who by understanding made the heavens,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who spread out the earth above the waters,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who made the great lights,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

the sun to rule over the day,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

the moon and stars to rule over the night,

for his steadfast love endures forever;”

-Psalm 136:3-16

7) What does this passage tell you about the majesty of God?

8) How do we see the love of God in creation?

When we see the stars in the sky we are reminded of the extent of God’s love.

When we see the beauty of the prairie we are reminded of God’s love.

When we see all that He has made we see the love that He has for us because He has said that we are good through Jesus Christ.

And those that He loves, He will not abandon. He will make a way for His love to destroy evil which we brought into His created goodness.

Science is nothing to be afraid of.
