And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
– Colossians 2:13-15
Not being assured leaves us open to shame. Here we see that shame is not meant for those who are inside the sacrifice of Jesus. The debt that causes shame to who we are was nailed to the cross. This in turn is the shame of those in opposition to the cross, not in the shadow of it.
Write out any shame, doubt, or hurt that you have in your life and put it upon the cross.
If your faith is in the divine work of Christ on Calvary, this is where your shame belongs. This is where your demands for perfection belong. Give them up and put the pain, sin, and false hope in the place where God has triumphed over all things that separate us from Him. The cross.
